Government’s Update On DA Arrears Of 18 Months, Big Shock To Employees, Will Not Get Funds

DA Hike New Update: The debate over 18-month DA payments has raged on for some time now, and there is still news trickling in about it, be it around New Year or during the budget! Sources, however, say that still the CB is undecided on the matter of DA arrears. The continuity still stands firm on the first decision.

Government’s Update On DA Arrears Of 18 Months

It is said that any clarity on what happens on this issue-of course, whether or not these DA dues from the Corona period will reach employees’ accounts-will just be made during the budget session in February 2025! Well, the news-be it in the media or apparently circulating-is coming to a standstill! Government sources even say that the government has no intention of giving the dues right now! So this is exactly what the update is from the government on 18-month DA dues.

It was under Covid-induced stress on the economy that the government had to freeze the financial expenditure by not paying the three installments of January 2020, July 2020, and January 2021. At the moment, there is no plan especially by the government regarding release of such dues, and central employees have to wait further for more hiking in the DA. Yes, departmental sources are definitely telling that there is hope of some discussion on this during the budget in February 2025! However, in the cabinet meeting held a few days ago, the discussion on this was rather positive.

At present, DA stands at 53 percent.

Recently, the central government has increased the dearness allowance of central employees by 3 percent! Not just that, DA is going to be paid from July! Before Diwali, three months’ DA had already come in the accounts of some employees as arrears! But lots of such employees still remain! In whose account DA arrears will come this month! As per the report, it was the agenda in the cabinet meeting! Which has begun to be carried out! Under the 7th Pay Commission, this DA increase takes place twice a year! And this time, the increase will benefit lakhs of central employees as well as pensioners.
