The government has recently issued new disciplinary rules for employees working under the central government due to the promotion of specific requirements that help maintain discipline and punctuality among the staff. These new rules are intended to enhance attendance to the workplace and also guarantee that employees stick to working time.
New Rules for Office Timings
According to a new directive, the central employees are supposed to be punctual by arriving in the office on time. Employees must clock in using the biometric system by 9:15 AM each day. Anytime beyond this period will qualify the employee for a “half-day” in terms of the leave.
This step is in line with the continuing efforts being taken by the Modi government to keep the working of the offices and particularly the public sector departments disciplined.
The government has singled out employees who are always late at work telling them that they will be punished if they fail to report to their respective workplaces within the 15-minute grace period.
The Significance of the Biometric Attendance System
Among these changes that have been implemented, one can mention the strict implementation of the biometric attendance system. This can be done so as to ensure that employees present fake documents and remain continue to attend work when they are not supposed to do so. The biometric system had been used sparingly, especially after the COVID-19 outbreak, but the government is now keen on implementing a proper and proper attendance recording.
Penalties for failure to comply
Failure to arrive by the designated time of 9:15 AM will lead to the deduction of half-day leave from the employee’s record. Sometimes an employee feels that he or she is going to be late for work in the normal functioning of organizations where employee punctuality is important, prior notice is expected. Moreover, during emergencies, the employees are supposed to request leave, while the department heads are bound to act accountable for the rigorous execution of the attendance policies.
More Responsibility and Rigor
By implementing these new guidelines the government hopes to create a work culture that is on time and disciplined. These steps constitute a set towards the creation of a more systematic working environment for Central Government employees depending on its ongoing endeavours to enhance productivity in different public offices across India.
